About Blue Oak Therapy
Compassionate care rooted in experience.
Blue Oak Therapy was founded on the belief that every child deserves access to skilled, empathetic mental health support. With over three decades of experience, I bring both clinical expertise and genuine warmth to my work with young people and families.
Background & Experience
A lifetime dedicated to children's wellbeing
With over 30 years of experience in child and adolescent mental health, I have dedicated my career to understanding and supporting young people through their emotional challenges. My journey began in clinical settings, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for children and families.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various contexts including CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), schools, and private practice. This breadth of experience has given me a deep understanding of how different environments impact young people's mental health and how best to support them.
I am a fully registered member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP), the professional body that maintains standards and ethics in child psychotherapy in the UK. This registration reflects my commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the highest standards of practice.
My approach is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic principles whilst remaining responsive to each individual's unique needs. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgemental space where young people can explore their feelings, develop self-understanding, and build resilience.

My Approach
The oak tree stands as a symbol of strength and growth.
Just as an oak tree grows strong through weathering storms, young people can develop resilience through supported emotional exploration. Blue Oak Therapy takes its name from this powerful metaphor.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic principles, meaning I believe that understanding the roots of emotional difficulties helps young people make sense of their experiences and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
